Rochester AEYC Strategic Plan
Rochester AEYC members and board members have been hard at work on the Strategic Plan, mapping out the future of the organization. A group of enthusiastic planners met at RIT in August to review and assess the existing strategic plan. In addition to making some changes, we continued to build upon what was started.
The participants, under the direction of Darlene Ryan, did a SWOT analysis that examined the organizational Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. As a result of this work, we came up with three distinct areas of concentration called Key Focus Areas (KFA). KFA 1 focuses on communication, processes, and procedures of the organization. KFA 2 is related to Rochester AEYC’s organization identity, clarity, and relevancy. KFA 3 is geared toward the development and use of technology.
We are pleased to report that significant progress has been made over these past months. The KFA 1 Committee, who refers to themselves as GIT (Get It Together), has made strides in the organization of documents, communication, and policies & procedures. Many documents are now stored electronically in the ‘cloud,’ an organizational chart has been created illustrating the many committees, committee meeting dates are now posted on the website, and many procedures that were once common knowledge are now written down. Our thanks go out to Wendy Mendola, Theresa Cummings, and Sandy Auriemma for all for all of their hard work in this area in addition to their other responsibilities on the Board.
KFA 3 Committee has been hard at work developing key result measures for ways to help the organization use technology in a more effective and efficient manner. You will soon be asked to fill in a brief survey to help us better understand how you use technology and how we can improve upon what we have. How can we make the website and Facebook page more interactive with our members? Our thanks to Lisa McCabe, Jacqueline Lindauer, and Jeanne Loysen for their dedication to the organization in planning as well as with their other responsibilities on the Board.
KFA 2 will follow the work of the first two Key Focus Areas. If you are interested in helping to capture Rochester AEYC’s identity, clarity, and relevancy in the community, please email us today.
NYS AEYC and National are also examining and developing their Strategic Plan for the future. We are all in communication with each other, and hope to continue to grow as an organization in alignment with our mission: Rochester AEYC is a not-for-profit, volunteer affiliate of the National AEYC, who provides professional development, community outreach, and advocacy to promote quality early education (Birth-8 years) standards and best practices.
Our compass is pointing in the right direction. Each of these areas are in alignment with our mission, vision, and values. As always, you are invited to become part of the planning process. You are RAEYC! Email us today!
